This Privacy Policy sets forth the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) practices regarding the collection and use of information relating to the Latina Appointments Collaborative (LAC) website (latinasgetinvolved.org).

Information We Collect

When registering your profile with the LAC, or registering for HOPE educational programs and events, you may be asked for information about yourself, including but not limited to contact information (such as name, e-mail address, mailing address and phone number) or demographic information (such as job title, company information, educational level, interest areas, and expertise).

HOPE does not collect any personally identifying information from website visitors browsing the LAC website. Aggregate demographic data such as pages views and unique visitors, are collected and used for internal and marketing purposes.

How We Use Your Personal Information

Your personal information is added to our database of collaborative members that we regularly share with key leaders who have the authority to appoint commissioners.

We also use your personal information to send marketing emails about HOPE and its initiatives. HOPE captures information about you from these marketing emails to help us understand the effectiveness of our campaigns.

From time to time, we may invite you to provide information via surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary. Therefore you have a choice whether to disclose requested contact information (such as name and mailing address) and demographic information (such as job title, or employer information).

Automatically Collected Data

Web servers automatically collect information about visitors, and ours does as well. This information includes the date, time, and navigation history of the session and your browser type and IP address. This information does not contain anything that can identify you personally. Automatically collected data may be used to deliver content specific to your interests and to honor your preferences.

We use “cookies” (a “cookie” is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user). Cookies make it possible for us to reduce the number of times you must log in or tailor the website to fit your interests. How We Use Information About You

Automatically collected data such as cookies and log files help us understand our website visitors’ interests to enhance their experience on the LAC site. We also use this information for our internal security audit log, trend analysis, and system administration and to gather broad demographic information about LAC website visitors for aggregate use.

We may also use this information to inform you of new HOPE and LAC programs and upcoming events that may be of interest to you, based on your activities or interests you have indicated. You may choose not to receive these communications.

We may combine demographic information you have supplied with site usage data to produce general profiles, in aggregate form that cannot identify you personally, about LAC members and website visitors and their preferences in the site’s content.

We use aggregate demographic information about LAC members and website visitors to improve our service, for marketing purposes, and/or industry reporting purposes.

Sharing of Personal Information

HOPE does not sell the data of its LAC members, website visitors under any circumstances.

Personal information submitted on the website and sent to HOPE staff will be used to create your LAC profile and to answer questions, address problems or complaints, or otherwise improve service.

As with any electronic communication, interception by unauthorized third parties is possible, so you may wish to transmit particularly confidential or sensitive information by regular mail.

  • HOPE may be required to provide information about any LAC members to law enforcement or government agencies.

Managing Your Information

You can opt-out of email communications via a link in each electronic mailing. HOPE reserves the right to delete your personal data if it is no longer needed for its purposes.

You may request deletion of your personal information other than that which is current operational data at any time by contacting HOPE. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

Children's Information

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) protects children’s personal information under the age of 13. This applies to individually identifiable information about a child collected online, such as full name, home address, email address, telephone number, or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child.

We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their child’s online activity.

Consistent with COPPA, HOPE does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
